Period of Performance

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport is one of the busiest airports in the United States welcoming more than 30 million passengers each year.  DTW is also one of the newest, most operationally-capable and efficient airports in North America.  With two new passenger terminals, 145 gates, six jet runways, and two modern Federal Inspection Services facilities for international arrivals.  As the second–largest hub and primary Asian gateway for Delta, DTW serves as the SkyTeam Alliance’s major Midwestern hub.

Scope of Services

North Terminal Redevelopment The $431M terminal is one of the first to be fully designed and constructed in the U.S. after the terrorist attacks of 9/11. The terminal was authorized prior to 9/11 as a renovation of an existing terminal. After 9/11, it was postponed then came back to life requiring a different configuration. Among the changes were demolition of the existing terminal and an adjacent hotel, additional square footage to support security, contained customs and border protection facilities, and a “bomb room” for explosives detection in checked baggage. Although these changes were applied, the budget did not change. Despite the original budget set in 2001, the program was completed within the set timeframe and within the original budget.

The NTR Program included Demolition of existing terminal and hotel, New Construction of an International terminal and concourse with 26 gates covering 850,000 GSF and Airside / Landside Improvements including apron paving, a hydrant fueling system, site MEP and roadway improvements.
